Grow Roots this Fall

Our school year starts on September 4th, 2024 and ends on May 30th, 2025.

The day begins with drop-off between 9:50-10 am and ends with pickup between 1:50-2 pm. Extended care may also be available.

We welcome Learners ages 5+ years old. Our ratio is 1:6, with two wonderful founding teachers, Renee and Kelsey.

We are currently in the process of becoming a vendor with Blue Ridge Academy. If you are with a different charter school, contact us and we'll work on that connection.

Our Community Quotes

"Kids learn at their own pace, and safety is one of the primary things that helps them learn. You're doing your best and that's enough."

-Parent of a 9-year-old

"Thank you for being the amazing person you are. You created and offered such a safe space. I could always pause, reflect, and learn with you without judgment."

-Parent of an 11-year-old

"I love going to 'school' because I learn about what plants are safe to eat. I can even make sunscreen out of plants now!"

I'm Wondering...

Learning year-round allows us to develop a phenology of our community. Allowing us a deeper understanding and gratitude for our environment.

We're fortunate to live on unceded Gabrielino-Tongva land, which means it's pretty beautiful all year round! We meet during most weather, excluding times of extreme weather (i.e. thunderstorms) or poor air quality (i.e. AQI red, purple).
Please check the weather every morning to ensure your Learner is wearing the right clothes for the day!

We will be learning outdoors and in most weather conditions, therefore, what we wear is important to enjoy our daily activities to the fullest!

  • Well-fitted outdoor shoes; preferably waterproof.

  • Comfortable breathable clothes; think in layers and check the weather every morning. Please, bring a change of clothes to a bag, too.

  • Sun hat, glasses, and protection.

  • Well-fitted pack to carry belongings: water bottle, lunch + snack, extra clothes, jacket, sketchbook/journal, writing and drawing tools.

  • Hearty lunch and snacks (i.e. trail mix); preferably in a reusable container.

  • Reusable water bottle. We will bring water for refills.

  • Individual hand sanitizer

As the year changes, so do our activities and experiences. However, we always encourage free play to expand their knowledge, as well as provocations or teacher-led activities. We also encourage folks to open and close together as a community by sharing their thoughts and experiences, however, they're comfortable.

We start the day with free play. A chime rings us in to welcome the day and each other. We share or answer a question before going over the rhythm of our day. Groups form based on activities; until we meet again at lunch! Water and food are always available, plus reminders about listening to our body when we need fuel or rest. At the end of the day, we gather to share what we experienced and our highlights before saying goodbye.
